Looking to upgrade the processor to the i7 3770 in my desktop PC.  I have already upgraded everything else.  Do I need to upgrade the BIOS before I upgrade the processor?  Currently running on 2.06 BIOS.  I know about the spectre and meltdown vulnerabilities.   I am just trying to figure out if it is best to upgrade the BIOS before or after the CPU upgrade?

Hi:

None of the BIOS releases that came out prior to this document dated March 8, 2013, added support for newer processors.

So I would say that you don't need to update the BIOS before installing the  i7 3770

Read the release notes for all of the BIOS releases on the support page...Under Previous Version.
