Hello, I recently got hold of an old computer (HP Compaq dc7600, S/N: CZC6383JZ7) of a friend of mine, who asked if I could do anything to speed it up. Now he and I both realize it's ancient technology by now (Pentium 4, 3 GB DDR2, 160GB P-ATA HDD etc.), but all he uses it for is to pay the bills and read news etc. I did a fresh re-install of Windows 10 (version 1809, 32-bit), upgraded BIOS to the latest available and cleaned it from all the dust.
Short question: Can this unit support Core 2 Duo E7500 processor? The reason I ask is that there is one E7500 sitting on my other friends shelf and he'd probably give it away for free if I had any use for it. A quick googling would indicate that anything beyond Pentium D (including each and every Core 2 -processor) is not supported, but I thought I'd ask whether a BIOS update has changed things.
