I have 1 32gb memory board and 3 4gb boards, what order should they be installed?

Well, it would be helpful to know your exact HP model number (or product number) before giving a definitive answer. Not all HP systems support 32 GB DIMMs, and the maximum supported memory configuration depends on the motherboard and chipset.

 

In general, when mixing different RAM capacities, the larger module is usually best placed in the primary slot (often DIMM slot 1 or the one closest to the CPU), with the smaller modules in the remaining slots. However, mixing a 32 GB module with 4 GB modules may prevent dual-channel operation or may not work at all, depending on system compatibility.

 

Do you mind sharing your exact product number (for example, something like: 15-dy2xxx for laptops, TP01-3xxx for desktops, or your PC's product ID number, ending with #ABA? That way I can look up the supported configurations for your system.
