I was wondering what I needed to upgrade the ram and gpu. Like do I need to get a specific ram stick? and can any gpu fit on the motherboard?

Ok thank you but if im going to upgrade the graphics card to like a 1070
The GTX 1070 should work in the computer. However, you should measure from the Back I/O ports to the front of the case to assure there is enough space for it to fit with room for good airflow.
and upgrade the cpu to like an i7
The only i7 processor that has been tested to assure that it is compatible with the motherboard is the i7-7700 (Kabylake) 3.6 GHz Quad Core. Here is the Product Specifications page for the computer. You should look at the section titled "Processor upgrade information". It shows the list of compatible processors. There is no guarranty that other processors will work. HP has their motherboards made to their specs.
would i need to get a higher wattage psu? (if i can i might also overclock the gpu, idk if overclocking affects wattage.) The processors that are compatible with the motherboard are not unlocked so they can be overclocked. The main concern with overclocking is HEAT. The PSU in the computer is 500W. Therefore, it will work with the GTX 1070.

@Marshall_Willia, welcome to the forum.
Here is the Product Specifications page for the computer. You can read the "Memory upgrade information" for a list of compatible memory. The maximum memory is 16 GB. As for the video card, the best way to know if the card will fit into the space provided is to measure from the Back I/O ports to the front of the case. You will have to buy a PCI Express x16 Gen 3 card.

You can not overclock the cpu with your motherboard but you can upgrade to a i7-7700 (not the "K" version). If you do want to upgrade your cpu to a i7-7700k then you would have to look for a z270 motherboard that fits. Im not sure about if any gpu will fit but if you plan to overclock your gpu fully then I would be safe and get a corsair 750w, mainly because there might be a chance that it could catch fire or break your entire system if you overheat your power supply and I doubt hp will cover it under waranty if that happens.
