HP Pavilion Power 580-154NG Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there!
I'm trying to use the 5.1 sound on my Pavilion Power 580-154NG Desktop PC, which was sold with a standard stereo outlet.
The mainboard definitely supports 5.1-Surround-Sound.
It is just not equipped with the necessary hardware to connect a 5.1 sound system.
HP Support says: Additional hardware is necessary to use the 5.1-Surround-Sound.  🤔

Question:   What type of hardware is needed and do I have to physically manipulate the mainboard?

THX for your help

@HtheF

Its specs

It has few audio ports at its back.

You need (have to buy) a suitable 5.1 speakers system to connect to port 1 or port 8 above. For example

Regards.

Note: I will move this post to Desktops area

First of all... thanks for your answer!

I am truely aware of the fact, that the mainboard itself won't produce any sound w/o a speaker or speaker system and the necessary amplification  (exept for maybe the system beeps).

However, my question was aimed in a different direction.

The following sentence can be found in the HP System description you mentioned:

"High Definition (Azalia) 5.1 channel audio support"     ....and then...

"NOTE:

The motherboard supports 5.1 surround sound. If the computer does not have the required audio jacks for a 5.1 configuration, additional hardware is required to use 5.1 surround sound."

Well..... yes, got it ....  but what type of additional hardware is needed to change the 3 port (jack) audio connector ( line in, -out and Mic-in) into the needed 6-port connector for the advanced audio system?
Or do I need to use an adapter for the SPDIF port (if possible) ...

Thx again
