My new computer has 2 hard drives, an SSD drive with programs installed and a much larger D drive for data. How do I arrange for data files, photos, etc to go to the D drive automatically? This question was asked before, and a solution was apparently found, but no details were posted on the forum for others to see.

It is up to you actually, no rules how to use it. You can use it for your data/files. Normally what I would do

1. Create folders on D:  for example

      (a) Videos

             - Downloaded videos,

             - Home videos   (such as from your camera/video camera)

      (b) Photos

             - From Nikon

                     . 2020_01_01 New year fireworks

                     . 2020_ ....

             - From Panasonic

             - From Sony

       (c) Scan documents

             - Invoices

             .....

2. Direct applications to use default locations. Nearly all applications allow you to save files on a default folder.

3. Tell your computer to use 😧 as default location to save your data/files. Please use

         https://www.ghacks.net/2019/10/14/how-to-change-the-default-save-location-in-windows-10/

Again, this is up to you but probably start from #3 first then work out others later.

Regards.

Thanks for the advice. I made the changes. It will take some time to see how well it works. HP should set up the computers that way before shipping.
