I have this same exact problem with the same exact desktop model:
I started using it one month ago (it was brand new from unopened box) and it has Windows 11 with latest OS, BIOS and drivers updates.
Mouse and keyboard are those that came with the Desktop.
I see that HP support in post above resolved the problem but did not provide update in the post on how it was resolved.
So how it was resolved?

@SP2020, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
Things to Try:
Check Device Manager > Events for any warning signs or repeated disconnects/errors under “Universal Serial Bus controllers”.
Test with rear I/O USB ports only, if you're using front panel USB.
Disable USB selective suspend in Advanced Power Settings (even if you've unchecked Device Manager power settings):
Control Panel > Power Options > Change Plan Settings > Change Advanced Power Settings > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting > Disabled
Chipset Driver Issues
Even if you've updated drivers manually, make sure you've installed the full chipset driver pack from the motherboard OEM (ASUS, MSI, etc.) — not just from Windows Update.
Also =, refer to these guides:

I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.
