OMEN by HP Desktop PC - 870-226na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

NOT BEING VERY TECH MINDED COULD SOME ONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY MY DESKTOP CANNOT BE UPGRADED TO WINDOWS 11 DUE TO MY CPU BEING A Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700 CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz. I LOOKED UP THE ACCEPTABLE CPU ON MICROSOFT SUPPORT AND CAN SEE THAT Intel(R) Core i7-7700 ARE ACCEPTABLE. IT'S THE ONLY REASON WHY MY COMPUTER WILL NOT UPGRADE ACCORDING TO THE MICRSOFT PC HEALTH CECK APP WHEN LOOKING AT COMPATIBILITY.

@RSLC,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

Long story short: Microsoft unilaterally determined/decided that only Intel Core 8th gen processors and newer would be Windows 11 eligible.

That means that, officially, your i7-7700 or even an i7-7700K are not W11 "supported".

But wait: there are a number of safe and effective ways to install Windows 11 anyway!

The best way to install W11 in so-called "unsupported" PCs is described by this gentleman: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSrmhhigEhY&ab_channel=Tips2Fix.

See also this link: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/technology/how-to-install-windows-11-on-almost-any-unsupported-pc/ar-....

The vid link I shared is by far the least painful way to install W11 on your PC.

Kind Regards,
