@Relicm16,

Welcome to our HP community forum!

That is an excellent question, and I think I have a legit response too.

Please allow me a minute to explain things. Zooming out, I responded to a similar question regarding a similar desktop (HP M01-F2254) about a year ago, where it was established that a 310-watt power supply (p/n: L64961-800) was indeed compatible with the aforementioned desktop which was fitted with the same 180-watt power supply it appears your HP Desktop M01-F3214 PC (577L8AA) is fitted with right now with p/n: L89235-002 -PLEASE verify.

However, in order to run VR smoothly on your desktop, you'll have to upgrade to at least a 500-watt power supply since you'll need a high-end graphics card -more about that in a minute.  It so happens that because your desktop is compatible with the 310-watt PSU I mentioned, it must also be compatible with this 500-watt PSU, with p/n: L05757-800 according to this link:

You can purchase this power supply online, such as via eBay.

One of the best VR-capable graphics cards you could pair with this 500-watt power supply, would be an RTX 4060 Ti 16GB, such as one of these smaller-sized (two fan) models: ASUS DUAL RTX 4060 Ti OC 16 GB Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database or this one: MSI RTX 4060 Ti VENTUS 2X BLACK OC 16 GB Specs | TechPowerUp GPU Database.

Honestly, preferably DO NOT go lower than this card, or else it may not provide the top-tier VR experience that you may be looking for or are expecting.

In addition, make sure you that you fit your desktop with at least 2 x 16GB of quality DDR4 PC-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), Dual Rank, 288-pin RAM sticks, such as this matching RAM kit purchase option: Timetec 32GB KIT(2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) PC4-25600 CL22 1.2V Non-ECC Unbuffered....

Please be reminded to AVOID so-called gaming RAM (Corsair Vengeance, G.SKILL) with a set default (SPD) RAM speed, because your PC has only limited (or no) XMP access.

Again, for best VR performance, upgrade your processor to an AMD Ryzen 7 5700G (8-Cores, 16-Threads, 3.80 GHz up to 4.60 GHz, 65-watt TDP) -assuming, of course, that you got an Erica9 motherboard (SSID: 8AB6) -please verify.

You also want to make sure that your primary (boot) drive is a quality M.2 NVMe SSD -something I am sure you already knew.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

I have the same question about upgrading to the 500W PSU.  I currently have the 180W but, the part number is L70042-012 not what is listed above.  Is the 500-watt PSU, with p/n: L05757-800 the correct replacement?  I already upgraded to 2x16GB of RAM and the Ryzen 7.  Appreciate any assistance!

@TechMod1,

Yes, the 500-watt L05757-800 power supply is compatible with the HP M01-F3xxx desktops.

I purchased a 2nd SS hard drive to add to this motherboard because the HP spec page says it has two M2 slots.  It does NOT.  Only 1 M2 slot.  Wasted $40.  To transfer from one SSD to a new unformatted SSD is a nightmare.

@DisposableStuff,

Wait a second: the specs to the Erica9 motherboard indeed says it has two M.2 slots, but clearly states that only one, the "Key M" slot, is meant for an M.2 NVMe SSD, the other ("Key A") is for a Wi-Fi card:

It is not HP's fault that you didn't pay attention to the specifications.
