HP Pavilion Desktop - 570-p026
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I need to upgrade my CPU for Windows 11 installation.  What Windows 11 recommended CPUs are compatible with my HP 82F2 00 motherboard?

- Must have matching socket type LGA 1151

- I need a CPU that is compatible with my HP motherboard.

- I need to know if CPU requires a specific BIOS version to work.

- Where can download the required BIOS version if my motherboard needs an update?

@DLothrop,

I don't know which W11 supported motherboard(s) would be a fit for your desktop.

There may very well be one or more which would fit, but that will require quite a bit of research, comparing your current motherboard's layout and specs with alternative motherboards.

I suspect that the pickings will be rather slim though, based on HP's non-industry standard motherboards designs.

Kind Regards,

@DLothrop,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

The best compatible processor for your PC is an i7-7700K, which is not Windows 11 supported according to Microsoft.

But wait.

There are a number of safe and effective ways to install Windows 11 on so-called unsupported computers anyway, such as this easy-to-follow YouTube instructional video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSrmhhigEhY&t=3s&ab_channel=Tips2Fix.

I'll start with upgrading the processor as you suggested, then watch the YouTube video for instructions for the Windows 11 work-around.  Thank you!
