I have an HP Omen (model 2TB61AV). It has served me well and is still a powerful system for much of what I do. However, if I wanted to simply swap in updated components myself to get it inline with more current Omen specs, what could I switch out without having to change the current motherboard, power supply, or internal wiring?

Thank you for the additional information, @taarna!
You have the maximum amount of memory already installed. The best option for improvement would be a new video card. Here is a HP Knowledge Base article that will explain what to consider when adding or upgrading a video card. Once you have read the article you will be able to determine which cards will work in your system. As stated in the article, you don't have to be a technician to install a video card. There are numerous videos online to help you install a new card.

@taarna , welcome to the Community.
Here are the Product Specifications for your computer. Since it is a Configure To Order (CTO), I don't know which options you chose. You can look at the sections titled Memory, Processor, Graphics and Expansion Slots. These will tell you the options that you had when you ordered the computer.
If you don't have a M.2, SSD, installed this would be a great upgrade. There is a M.2 socket 3, key M: 1, slot on the motherboard. Also, you could upgrade your HDD to a standard SSD. I suggest a Samsung EVO. The one in my link is a good example of what you need. If you have further questions about these SSD's you can contact Samsung's Tech Support for help with choosing the best option for your system.

Greetings and thank you for answering my questions. I should have posted the specs since it was in fact a CTO. They are shown below. What you've written helps although I do already have an SSD drive. What I'm wondering is, would it be worth it (or even possible) to upgrade the video card given the current config or even simply increase the RAM. Would this make a difference . . . and would it be something a non technician could do without too much of an issue. Please let me know what you think?
