ENVY 700-109c Desktop PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I'm considering upgrading my desktop PC. It is slow to boot and the HDD activity light is frequently on solid for a minute or so. It is also very slow to launch some apps: namely Soda 12 PDF, and Edraw CAD.  The Office apps load faster but still too slowly, I think. I thought maybe an SSD might improve performance but there is a confusing selection of these available and I don't know which might be the best approach.

The PCIe x16 and x1 slots are available. I assume there is an available HDD  bay and SATA connection. I haven't added any components since I purchased the PC new. The computer runs well with no crashes or other issues - it's just slow to boot and load some apps.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

It is an old machine actually, it specs

The PCIe x 16 (Gen 3) is for a video card the x1 is not suitable for M.2 SSD therefore adding  2.5" SATA SSD is one option or upgrading its 2TB to 2TB (or more) SSD. For example

Thank you very much, Banhien, for your reply.  It is very clear.

Do you feel the Crucial SATA SSD would make much improvement in the performance of my PC? Or is it better to replace the motherboard and CPU, or the entire computer? I like the number and location of the USB ports in my existing system, and would prefer not to junk the case.

Thank you again, GGY.
