Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I've recently become a bit obsessed with improving my PC; the base AIO is really good, fast enough and good for what I need (I've added another stick of RAM to help too) but I really want to boost it even more, as I am aware Intel Pentium is fairly dated.

I was researching the different types of CPU slots and motherboards and from what I've found, both CPUs will fit my motherboard, yet the support document for my computer only gives the latter as an available upgrade.

What makes these two CPUs so different, and will the first work on my computer as opposed to the second?

Hi:

The reason the i5-2400 won't work and the i5-2400s will, is because the 'S' version is a lower wattage processor.

Your PC can't support a 95W processor such as the i5-2400.

Thank you Paul.

As of the lower wattage, does this affect the performance of the CPU in any way? It shouldn't matter too much to me but would the 95W part work better?

You're very welcome.

Yes, the 95W i5-2400 is better specs than the i5-2400s in some areas.

Here is the link to the comparison chart.

It really is immaterial, because if you try to install the 95W processor in your PC, it won't boot up.
