Whenever I switch on my HP desktop, it keeps on typing 444444 endlessly even in the space provided for the password, which makes it difficult for me to even log in. The other problem is the volume, either it is maximum (100) or the minimum (o). If you try adjusting it, it again either increases or decreases. I have tried all the things with the software like reformatting the windows, re-installing the MS office, changing (and even switching off) the keyboard, etc. Seems to be having some hardware issue (maybe the motherboard). Any suggestions?

The problem of the repeating 444 is probably a stuck key on the keyboard. Try replacing the keyboard or does "changing (and even switching off) the keyboard" mean replacing?
Since the model number of the PC is not given, good troubleshooting will be difficult.
The volume control could also depend on the keyboard, depending on model number.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Actually, I already had tried these things (Replacing and switching off the Keyboard) before posting this Issue on this community portal. Apart from that, I reformatted the PC also. but the problem persists.
I think, there's something wrong at the hardware level, maybe the motherboard.

Please post the model number of this PC.
What type of keyboard is being used USB, wireless, PS/2?
What happens if the keyboard is not connected? Do the 44's still show up?
