Hi,
I wanted to upgrade the RAM on my All-In-One. It currently holds 1x 8gb DDR4-2666 SODIMM (Samsung)
I assumed the second slot would support this exact Speed so I tried the same specs however a different brand (Crucial) and had no luck.
On the motherboard Specs on the HP Website it says under 'Memory Upgrade Info' that it can support up too DDR4 2400 (PC4-19200)...I'm a tad confused as to why it's saying this when the system is already supporting 2666? could this mean the second slot happens to be slower? and the maximum I can install is 2400 on that one?
Or does it mean the system only supports either HP/Samsung supported Memory?
I can't figure out if it's the extra speed or the brand that's causing the compatibility issue,
Any Info will help massively!
Thank you:)

Hi:
I am very surprised the Crucial PC4-2666 MHz memory didn't work.
The memory upgrade info you posted from HP is incorrect.
Your PC's 9th gen core processor supports 2666 MHz memory, and 2400 MHz memory would slow it down.
Here is what I suggest you try...
Remove the original memory chip and just put the Crucial chip in its place.
If it works, just buy another Crucial chip, because the Samsung memory must have a conflict with the Crucial chip...could be timing specs, or whatnot.
If it still doesn't work, then it is not out of the realm of possibility that the Crucial memory chip was DOA.
Return it for a replacement and try again.
