Hello!

I am looking to upgrade my GPU from an AMD Radeon R9 270 to the new GTX 1060 (Or others).

I understand that there are multiple versions of a GPU and i'm not sure what is best for my PC. I am mainly worried that the 1060 will not fit in my PC.

Here is a link to my PC and it's specifications: http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04343334

Here is a link to the GTX 1060 that i'm currently interested in: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01IPFMVCQ/ref=s9_simh_gw_g147_i1_r?ie=UTF8&fpl=fresh&pf_rd_m=A3...

Thank you

Since its a small and tight case. You want the blower style kind of card. If you don't get that kind. You are just trapping hot air inside your case and will make the card run hotter. I have a GTX 1080 Founders Edition in mine and it fits fine.

Now you know for SURE! :generic: If you go with the 1070. Change out the power supply. I had the same 500w stock version in mine. As you know. It has a 8 pin and 6 pin power connectors with that psu. The 1080 requires an 8 pin. So, I plugged that into it.

When I put a load on it. My PC would reboot. I knew it was a psu issue. So, I tried taking the 2 6 pin power plugs and used those with the 8 pin power adapter that came with the card. While it worked. It gave the card excessive coil whine and it ran hotter inside.

I would imagine pushing the stock psu to much. I changed it out right away after that to a EVGA SuperNOVA P2 650w psu and its now dead silent.

No fitment issues at all. Picture attached.

@BKayFrog, welcome to the forum.

There are two things to consider when buying a video card: 1) the length of the card and 2) the wattage required to run it properly.  You can determine if the card will fit by measuring from the Back I/O ports to the front of the case.  The GTX 1060 that I reviewed is 11.02" in length.  If the space is long enough the other dimensions should be fine.

The power supply unit (PSU) is 500W.  If the wattage required is 500W or more, you may have to upgrade the PSU, as well.  I suggest at least 100W more than the cards maximum to assure that the system will run properly.  Also, if the video card requires additional power connectors, you will have to make certain that the existing PSU has them.

Yes it will fit fine. And yes it will work with your current stock psu. The 1060 is very power efficient. 500w psu is suitable for it. Which is what you have.

Hello! Thanks for your reply, it's reassured me.

However, as of now, I'm looking into getting a 1070 instead.

There's 2 versions that i'm interested in.

1st version: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zotac-GeForce-Founders-GDDR5-Graphics/dp/B01G5DXPKW/ref=sr_1_6?s=computers&...

2nd version: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Zotac-GeForce-1070%C2%A08GB-GDDR5%C2%A0256%C2%A0bit-Mini/dp/B01LLAJ8PU/ref=...

I'm confident that the GTX 1070 mini will definitely fit inside my PC. But i'm guessing the normal founders edition is just better in some way. Can you please tell me if the founders edition will fit and work? Many thanks.

Oh and i've asked this question on Tomshardware, here is the link to what other people are saying (just incase you are interested), because they seem to disagree somewhat:
