@Mblack1

That is a good question,

You've been doing quite a lot of research as I can see, good for you. 😉

That said, the article is for those who want to replace the processor at their own discretion even though we don't recommend it, it's out there to assist them or in your case, to help you.

The same goes for the upgrade information available on the HP Product upgrade information as every HP Pc is tested and set to its optimal performance before it's shipped out, however, If you wish to upgrade, you may do so, at your own discretion.

And I'm not sure what you mean by HP doesn't offer such graphics cards because we also have the HP Omen series with the best in the class graphics card and other components, please check that out on our site: Click here for details.

That said, you are welcome to upgrade anything you want, I'm only here to help you within my support boundaries and believe me, I have gone above and beyond to help you out, although, I'm at the end of my line, now...as I cannot suggest which brand of hardware components you need to upgrade to, which is why I again suggest that you check with the local tech to answer your specific questions related to the components & upgradable options.

Have a good day.

@Mblack1

Welcome to HP Forums,

This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,

Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂

As I understand you want to know if the Zotac GTX amp extreme 1080 ti can be connected to your PC,

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

Did you check the specifications of both the old and the new graphics card?

While you respond to that, here's what you need to know:

Your current graphics card - "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980Ti" has a power consumption of 250W according to this link: Click here

And the new graphics card you want - "ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 Ti AMP Extreme" consumes 320W according to the link you've shared.

Although, it will fit perfectly, considering it's a PCI Express 3.0 16x, the system may either crash too often or slow down drastically due to low power consumption, hence you may have to upgrade the Power Supply as well.

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉

So what do i have to do more to increase the problem of low power consumption for this card ?

You suggested to upgrade the card, what do you mean precisly ?

I saw also that the card has a very big size, do you think my PC and motherboard has enough space to fit with this card ?

@Mblack1

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back 😉

I meant you may need to upgrade the power supply as well as the graphics card if you want to proceed with upgrading/changing your video card.

I hope that answers your question, also, I recommend you take the computer to a local tech and have him do the changes as that would help get this done efficiently, while you ensure its fitting in and working properly, before you leave his store.

Keep me posted for further assistance 😉

Thanks you. It's a pleasure to get your help.

If i have to change the power supply, can you suggest me one that i can buy or give me an example on amazon or other commercial site please ?

I think it's time for me to learn how to do by myself.

@Mblack1

Thank you for replying with this overwhelming and detailed response 😉

I appreciate your time and efforts,

It looks like you can go ahead with any PSU larger than the one you have, just ensure the connectors match the motherboard and other components on your computer, perhaps, you can take the old PSU along and get a similar one with higher watts then the current.

Remember: The brand name doesn't matter, as long as the connectors fit and the PSU fits inside the chassis, everything should be okay.

And I'm afraid I cannot suggest any retailers as such being an HP employee my support ends here.

That said, feel free to post your query for any other assistance as well,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Thank you for responding,

It's great to have you back Smiley Wink

My French isn't as good as yours and I request you to look for the size or the form factor of the PSU you are looking to buy and have the part replaced accordingly.

Just ensure the form factor of the new PSU is compatible with "uATX".

I hope this helps,

It's been a pleasure interacting with you and I hope you have a good day ahead.

Thank you for responding too 😉

the norm "uATX" does it mean micro ATX ? Because i don't see this mention "uATX" in any french commercial site and when i found only one site that mention micro ATX, there is only one model but this model don't have enough watt, only 600w for what i need (i need minimum a 750W psu) :

Yes, you are right, uATX and the Micro ATX is the same form factor,

Although, to be sure it fits right it in, check with the store tech.

And 600W should be fine, check with the local tech to be sure,

As I said, HP doesn't support upgrades as such and I wish you could be on the safer side by consulting a local/store to ensure you have the correct amount of power consumption.

I hope this helps,

Take Care.
