HP Pavilion 590-p0103wb
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I purchased a prebuilt hp pavilion 590-p0103wb desktop with the intent of installing an HP Radeon Pro WX 3200 Graphic Card and I want to make sure my 180w PSU will be enough. The prebuilt currently has a Ryzen 3 2200g CPU with Vega 8 graphics (65w), two 8GB Samsung RAM cards, a 1TB hard drive, and a DVD writer.

The graphics card I want to insert requires 50w.

If my PSU can't handle the addition of this graphics card what PSU model should I replace my current one with?

If you need more info let me know what I'm missing.

your stock supply is 180 watts of greater concern is that your system appears to be a AIO (all in one) unit where the motherboard is inside the video screen,

https://cdn.cnetcontent.com/syndication/mediaserverredirect/d4f58ccc7bd9da7bf3507b4a082c9562/origina...

as such a Radeon Pro WX 3200 Graphic Card is not going to fit as it's a PCI-E card

https://www.amd.com/en/products/professional-graphics/radeon-pro-wx-3200

and if trying to use a external thunderbolt dock, that's not going to work as your AIO has no thunderbolt capability and only has usb 3.1 (no usb 3.2)

bottom line your stuck with the amd cpu's vega 8 graphics

There is no such thing as an All-in-one desktop that has a tower like this r20211130_171905.jpg20211130_171928.jpg20211130_172431.jpgight?

Like do you mean my tower specifically is All-In-One?

Tech power up recommends 250 watt supply for a 65 watt WX 3200.  However, the HP card you wrote about was 50 watts.

Even then, you 180 watt is not sufficient.

IANE on HP custom power supplies, someone more knowledgeable needs to tell you which one can fit and are at least 250 watts.

I found the info for the WX 3200 graphics card here:

https://www.amd.com/system/files/documents/radeon_wx_3200_datasheet.pdf

It is good to know that I'll need to upgrade my PSU regardless of whether it's 65w or 50w. Anyway thank you for the info and I hope you get to upload your BMW as your avatar soon.

Now I just need to find a PSU that A) is as close to the minimum of 250w and B) can fit into as well as having the same connectors as my 180w PSU.

sorry, i meant that your Bundle of monitor and minitower came with a 180 watt custom power supply ignore the AIO part

your motherboard uses a rather new power standard that has the power supply only output +12 volts instead of 12/5/3.3 the ATX standard supplies

your motherboard itself has onboard power regulators to do the 12v to 5v 3.3v conversions

as such there is no upgraded supply currently available

while there are mods/hacks to supply power to a video card's pwr connector using a 3rd party power source it's usually fairly involved and not worth the time/effort/cost to do so

Hi Cybotron

Just spitballing here, looking at your PC's specs, I wonder that if you could swap your Vega 8 GPU with a low-power/low-profile/single-fan GTX 1650 (NOT the "Super" version), that this would be the better gaming option for your rig. If I read the specs of your HP Pavilion 590-p0103wb correctly (HP guru's: please verify), the Vega 8 requires a 6-pin power connection whereas some versions of the GTX 1650 don't even have/need this power connector -they are powered solely by a PCIe X16 slot.

If it is the case that this GPU option is indeed compatible with your system, your gaming performance would get a tremendous boost: it would improve the average Vega 8 UserBenchMark score from a 'meh' 10.6% to a very respectable 43% for a GTX 1650.

Good luck!

while the PCI_E spec does indeed state up to 75 watts on a x16 slot that does not mean EVERY pci-e slot can do 75 watts

how much wattage a slot can provide is left up to the computer maker, and in this case i believe HP only allows 35 watts due to the 180 watt supply i have seen some systems with the 35 watt limit run 55 watt video cards by making sure they do not have any optional components installed such as a second HD a optical drive 4 sticks of ram instead of two and no other pci-e cards installed

i would check what wattage the HP approved cards draw and use that as a guide for selecting your video card

The reason I chose the Radeon pro wx 3200 is due to three factors:

1. It is supported by the cad software I plan to use so that I can run it properly.

Link to cad software: https://www.solidworks.com/support/hardware-certification/

2. It doesn't require a external power connector (I was looking at the manufacturers website while typing this, it stated there)

Graphics card Link: https://www.amd.com/en/products/professional-graphics/radeon-pro-wx-3200

3. It consumes 50 watts, at max, from the motherboard.

Link is the same as the second reason. (Data sheet, which is also found on the second link, states the same).

All I'm looking for is a hp genuine psu that will not harm my computer or cause my computer to catch on fire. I don't mind if the graphics card can't run at its max, I just don't want to replace my entire computer tower.

@DGroves, if you could provide me a link as to where the information on my motherboard is that would be great (how do you know that the PCIe x16 slot for my motherboard does 35 watts?). Also the links you posted in your second reply was for a different computer model to my HP Pavilion 590-p0103wb. Are the motherboards the same between the two models or is it something else? Apologies if I'm coming off as a rude I just want to make sure of my info.

If you need any info such as bar codes or model numbers on any of my computers components let me know. Thanks for sticking with this for as long as you have.
