I want to upgrade my computer which is only a couple of years old. The MS compatibility tool says that the AMD Ryzen 5 2400G processor is not compatible with Windows 11, but the Ryzen 7 2700X is. The HP hardware manual says that the 2700X is supported by my computer, but the HP Windows 11 tested compatibility list shows that Pinnacle Ridge is required. I have Radeon Vega graphics so I'm not sure if my computer is compatible even though MS says that it should be if I upgrade the CPU.
The only upgrade that is compatible is the 2700X which came with a Prism cooler. The mother board is supposed to support the 2400G, but the cooler is so tall that it won't clear the drive carrier. I know the Wraith Stealth cooler that came with the 2400G has a TDP of 65 watts and the 2700X has a TDP of 105 watts, but if I want to go to Windows 11 this seems to be the only solution without replacing a relatively new computer. The applications are browsing the web and MS office applications, no gaming and I have no intention of over clocking the CPU.
It is really aggravating to have a computer that is only a couple of years old that is only able to use an operating system that is being replaced with one that is incompatible my hardware.
Does anyone have any solution to my problem? I'm hoping the Stealth cooler will work even though it’s not ideal.

Hi:
I would just upgrade it to the AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 2700 CPU* (4.1 GHz Max Boost, 3.2 GHz base frequency, 20 MB, 65W,
Eight-Core) which is the same wattage as your PC's current processor is, and according to page 9 of the HP Quickspecs for your PC, it is a supported processor.
HP EliteDesk 705 G4 Desktop Business PC
The AMD Ryzen™ 7 PRO 2700 CPU is also on Microsoft's list of W11-supported processors.
Windows processor requirements Windows 11 supported AMD processors | Microsoft Learn
AMD | Ryzen™ 7 PRO | 2700 |
AMD | Ryzen™ 7 PRO | 3700 |
AMD | Ryzen™ 7 PRO | 2700X |
If I had that model PC, I wouldn't even bother to upgrade the processor.
If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.
You have to use the version of the Rufus utility that I zipped up and attached in the discussion (v3.18).

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

Thank you for the suggestions. The 2400G processor includes Radeon Vega graphics so upgrading to the 2700 or 2700X would require installation of a graphics card. All this for what would be a small incremental increase in the performance for my applications. The 2700 processor comes with the huge Prism cooler, but I probably could get away with using the Stealth cooler that came with my computer.
I will read your post about using the Rufus utility and let you know the outcome.
Thank you very much.
