Hi Guys i have a HP Ennvy 32-a1002na all in one that my grand daughter now has but she got a new keyboard and mouse for it and i still have the old ones, as i understand it the wifi / bluetooth dongle is attached to the mother board so rendering the old keyboard and mouse no good to use on any other pc. Am i right ? and if so is there a way to get another wifi / bluetooth dongle to pair up to the old keyboard and mouse or any way to make it work with my pc ?.
Thank You
G

Hi @Graham671
Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.
We understand what you're trying to do, and thank you for clearly explaining the situation with the HP ENVY 32-a1002na All-in-One.
In many HP All-in-One systems, the original wireless keyboard and mouse are paired either through:
• A dedicated HP USB wireless receiver (dongle), or
• An internal wireless receiver module integrated into the system
If the keyboard and mouse that came with the computer were paired to an internal receiver built into the All-in-One, they typically cannot be paired directly with another PC unless they support standard Bluetooth pairing.
Here are a few checks to help determine whether the devices can be reused:
Examine the keyboard and mouse for a Bluetooth symbol.
- If Bluetooth is supported, you can place the device into pairing mode and connect it through your PC's Bluetooth settings.
Check the battery compartment and labels.
- Look for a product number or model number on both devices.
- This can help identify whether they use Bluetooth or a proprietary HP wireless connection.
Review the original HP ENVY 32 packaging or documentation.
- Some models shipped with peripherals that rely on a receiver permanently associated with the system rather than a removable USB dongle.
If the devices use an HP proprietary wireless connection:
- A generic Bluetooth adapter will not pair with them.
- Replacement receivers are generally only supported for specific HP keyboard and mouse models that were designed for receiver re-pairing.
On the HP ENVY 32 itself:
- Open Device Manager and check whether a wireless receiver is detected internally.
- This can help confirm whether the original connection was through an integrated receiver rather than a separate USB dongle.
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Thank you for your in-depth reply, my all in one does have the built in wireless so looks like that’s the end for the keyboard and mouse, Its such a shame as i think the older keyboard and mouse are much better than the ones i got with the new pc, they are both in great working order, maybe HP should look at making all their products reusable rather than having to recycle perfectly good items.

You are very welcome @Graham671
Thank you for sharing your thoughts, and I completely understand where you're coming from. It's never easy to set aside peripherals that are still in excellent working condition.
For many HP All-in-One systems, including models that use an internally installed wireless receiver, the keyboard and mouse are designed to communicate with that specific receiver rather than a standard removable USB dongle. In those cases, the devices generally cannot be paired to another PC unless they also support Bluetooth.
Thank you as well for the valuable feedback regarding reusability. Customer feedback like yours helps highlight features that many users would appreciate in future accessory designs.
I'm glad to hear the keyboard and mouse have provided such a good experience over the years, and hopefully they continue to serve your granddaughter well with the ENVY system.
