So here's the problem and hopefully I can get some help. I recently got a new graphics card to replace the Quadro 2000 that came with the Z400 workstation. I'm running what I believe to be the most recent BIOS, the one released in 2018. I installed a new 700w PSU and verified that I'm getting voltage to the new GPU. The graphics card is a Saphire Nitro Rx470 from eBay with 8 GB VRAM. I get six beeps along with red flashes when the Rx470 is installed, but the PC runs fine when the Qaudro 2000  is reinstalled, any ideas? Thanks in advance!

@Ech0Sound,

The HP Z400 was one of my legacy upgrade projects, so I would like to give this a shot too.

First, the six beeps with red flashes on your HP Z400 workstation indicate a graphics card or video error. This usually happens when the system detects an issue with the installed graphics card or the power supply to it.  Since you verified that there's nothing wrong with your power supply, you may want to check the RX 470 in a different system to see if it actually works if you can.

Btw, an RX 470 should work just beautifully in an HP Z400, as this User shows.

Another thing to check is to make sure that the RX 470 is seated correctly as a loose connection can cause the system to fail to detect the card, and that its PCIe x16 interface is free of dirt and undamaged.

In doubt, to be honest, I would consider returning the card to Seller and get your money back.

Kind Regards,

If your Z400 isn’t recognizing the new graphics card, ensure it's properly seated in the PCIe slot, and check for any necessary BIOS or driver updates. You may also need to verify power supply compatibility.

the AMD RX470 is compatible with older "Legacy" only bios's which the HP z400 has,

the HP Z400 only came with  DPS-475CB-1A 475W Power Supply or a

 600W  watt supply HP part number 629049-001 (or 26322-001)

if you have a optional 3rd party 700 watt upgraded power supply using a HP to ATX adapter

https://www.amazon.com/COMeap-Female-Adapter-Workstation-7-67-inch/dp/B0CSYPJGNW

then you appear to not be connecting the power supply/GPU correctly

check that the motherboard 4pin aux cpu connecter is attached to the motherboard

and that the 470 cards aux gpu connecter's are connected to the atx's gpu 6/8 pin connectors
