Hi @xlnt1

You can do this if both PCs use the same MB. I don't see a reason to do this.

Please provide the MB name and MB SSID for your PC. Check Windows System Information in Control Panel or check HP System Information for this information .

The TGO1-2003W MB name and SSID are Erica6 and 8906 respectively.

I am currently  awaiting the computer I am on my TG01 2003 erica6 5600g  (5000 series). The TGO1 2023 is the one i have to  change the bios as it only support (3000 series) The  cost of the processors is about the same but the the 5000series has a  higher transistor count the bios chips both use the same Winbond chip so pinout is the same 8pin  cpu power on both 65W  Pre programmed chips are available on Ebay

Hi @xlnt1

Let me get this straight.

You now have a TG01-2003w. The MB (Erica6) specs for this PC are at this HP Site.

You purchased a TG01-2023w. You have not received this PC.

You want to remove the TG01-2023w HP BIOS chip when you get this PC. You want to install a replacement, pre-programmed, BIOS chip in the TG01-2023w, available from eBay, that supports Ryzen 5000 series CPUs.

Is this correct?

I can't find a HP TG01-2023w PC. Do you have any MB info; MB name or MB SSID? Maybe the "Erica" MB? How do you know the 2023w only supports Ryzen 3000 CPUs?

All other hardware on both MBs would have to be identical if you know the 2023w has a different MB.

I still can't see spending money on a replacement BIOS chip (that may or may not work) and a Ryzen 5000 CPU immediately after buying a new PC.

Regards

the only thing limiting a bios chip  change/upgrade would be the bill of material used on "Erica" motherboards and schematics
