@Paul45701 , welcome back to the forum.

I can't find the model that you have listed: 290p043  Please give me the Product Number or correct model.

In the meantime, you should use CPU-Z to find the manufacturer and timings for the current memory in each of the computers: https://download.cnet.com/CPU-Z/3000-2086_4-10050423.html

This information is in the Tab titled "SPD".  Once you have this information you can contact Crucial's Tech Support to assure that your current memory is compatible with theirs.

Here is the memory that is recommended by Crucial Memory for the 400-034: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-slimline-400-034

If there are compatibility problems you will have to replace the current memory.  The motherboard has Dual channel memory architecture.  This means that the memory should be installed in exact matching pairs to get the best performance from it: https://www.crucial.com/articles/about-memory/what-is-dual-channel-memory

Once I have the correct model for the other computer I will provide the same information for it.

In system information all it says is HP slim desktop 290-poxx. Looked up on HP using this serial number (8CG8328F3X) and it called it the 290-po43.

Thank you for the additional information, @Paul45701!

The Serial Number helped me find the model.  It is 290-P0043W.  I would appreciate it if you would edit your post and remove the Serial Number.  It is not a good idea to post SN's on the Internet.  It is the only protection you have if someone steals your computer.  If you enter you SN in the space provided in HP PartSurfer you can find all of the information for it: https://partsurfer.hp.com/search.aspx

Here is the Product Specifications page: https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-slim-290-p0000-desktop-pc-series/19390524/model/23205936/doc...

If you look at the section titled "Memory/Memory upgrade information" it shows that the maximum memory is 8 GB.  The motherboard has "Dual channel memory architecture" which means the memory should be installed in matched sets to get the best performance.

Here is the memory that is recommended by Crucial Memory for your computer: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-slimline-290-p0043w

Crucial's information states the maximum is 32 GB.  You should go by the HP specifications (8 GB) because they have their motherboards made to their specifications.  They use them in many different models with different configurations.

As I stated above, you should run CPU-Z to find the manufacturer and timings for the current memory.  In the future it would be better if you want information on both of your computers to make a separate thread for each of them.
