Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Pavillion550-151l

motherboard : Odense

I bought another 4 GB of Kingston KVR16N11S8/4 RAM, after installed the system showed 4GB instead of 8.

What I did:

- removed original RAM ,replaced with Kingston that I bought,  after switched on , there was beep sound like this

3 long beep followed by 2 short beep

- switch between the 2 sockets , result was the same

What happen and why

The most likely reason is the memory is not accepted by the motherboard.  That is the reason for the beep code.

Here is the spec page for the  Odense motherboard

https://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-550-100-desktop-pc-series/8499648/model/8744312/doc...

It lists the memory as PC3L-12800 (DDR3L-1600)  Notice the "L" in the designation spec
