I need more ram in my pc. I have 4x8gb memory but my HP PAV GAMING DESKTOP TG01-1209 PC only has 2 memory slots. Was wondering which motherboard with 4 memory slots would be compatible with my setup?

@jjviolet,

Welcome to our peer-to-peer HP Community Forum!

Why change a perfectly good motherboard?  I am not aware of another motherboard with more than two RAM slots that would be a fit for your PC.

Your HP Pavilion Gaming Desktop TG01-1209 PC (13Z87AA) as fitted with a Baker motherboard (SSID: 8767), can be fitted with up to 2 x 32GB DDR4 PC4-25600, 3200 MHz, Non-ECC, Unbuffered, DIMM (UDIMM), 288-pin RAM sticks. Not that you would likely need that much RAM, so why not install 2 x 16GB RAM sticks?

Mind you, this motherboard may slightly down throttle 3200 MHz RAM to 2933 MHz.

Kind Regards,

Will this work fine?

@jjviolet,

Unfortunately, no: not all RAM is created equal in the HP universe, and it so happens that Corsair Vengeance is one of the least adaptable RAM options for many HP desktop platforms -including yours.  Meaning, this RAM will get stuck at its "SPD" or default RAM speed of 2133 MHz:

Link: VENGEANCE® LPX 32GB (2 x 16GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit - Black (corsair.com).

But not to worry: these two RAM options will provide the best RAM performance for your desktop:

Crucial CT16G4DFRA32A.M16FR 2x16GB

Samsung M378A2G43AB3-CWE 2x16GB

cant I just change it to 2933mhz in the bios settings? also, cant find the items you provided on Amazon, could you provide a link.

@jjviolet,

That won't work with Corsair RAM's SPD setting.

Here is an Amazon-Canada purchase option for the Crucial 2x16GB RAM: Crucial RAM 32GB Kit (2x16GB) DDR4 3200MHz CL22 (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) Desktop Memory CT2K16G4DFRA3..., such as through this Seller option.

@jjviolet,

Perhaps a picture is worth more than numerous words.

Amongst many sad examples, here are but a few:

@jjviolet,

Well, mid- to high quality compatible 2 x 16GB DDR4 - 3200 MHz RAM combo packs are somewhat pricey, no matter where you look.

Here are two other RAM combo pack examples that are likely to work well in your desktop (in order of preference): Timetec 16GB DDR4 3200MHz (or 2933MHz or 2666MHz) PC4-25600 CL22 1.2V Non-ECC Unbuffered 2Rx8 Dual R..., and: TEAMGROUP Elite DDR4 32GB Kit (2 x 16GB) 3200MHz (PC4-25600) CL22 Unbuffered Non-ECC 1.2V UDIMM 288 ....

Please be reminded that whatever you do, use matching (same brand, model and capacity) RAM modules for best RAM performance.

Do not buy 'weird' cheapo RAM brands.
