HP ENVY Curved All-in-One PC 34-b0xx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi I have had this problem for a while now since a windows 10 update and cannot resolve.

I have an HP ENVY Curved All-in-One PC 34-b0xx and the internal camera that pops out from the screen can no longer be activated by the OS at boot and therefore I cannot login with windows hello. I have seen many similar issues for note books in 2017 but cannot find the right driver anywhere to solve this.

I cannot imagine I am the only one with this problem with this beautiful machine. please help me find the right driver

@asaweli,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query in this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the windows hello is not working on your computer.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

Follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. Download the RGB Camera firmware update tool from hp.com (sp81543.exe).
  2. Run the firmware update tool on the PC connected to the monitor.
  3. In Desktop mode, right-click on the Windows Menu (lower left corner of the screen) and select Device Manager.
  4. Expand Imaging Devices.
  5. Right-click HP HD Camera (or similar device), and select Remove.
  6. Reboot the PC.

 Then, Disable Windows Hello and the run the Hello setup again

  1. Select Settings > Account > Sign-in Options > Face Recognition then click the Remove button.
  2. Select Settings > Account > Sign-in Options > Windows Hello > Face, then click the Setup button.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

@The_Fossette

thanks for your post and helping out. unfortunately does do not seem to be the solutions.

When I try to install that firmware update tool, and run it , it shows a quick MSDOS style black screen that dissapears again and afterwards my all in one envy is telling me that this software did not install correctly do you want to try compatability mode,

I tried that as well but also gave an error

I did the other step of removing the 1MP High definition webcam camera and rebooted but after rebooting it is stil gone from the device manager. Normally I believe the computer would recognize the hardware and re install a driver.

I have the feeling the firmware update you gave me  might not be for this envy all in one curved 34 ?

If so.. Can you direct me to the latest driver that i can reinstall for the webcam on this device as it is not installing

Just as information the webcam was working in other applications was I was logged in... the only issue was...  during boot the computer could not start the webcam for windows hello

please help as now it seems the device is no longer included in device manager.

thanks

@asaweli,

It is great to have you back and your patience is greatly appreciated.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

Go to the Microsoft Update Catalog located here: http://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/home.aspx.

In the search box type "HP Truevision" and perform the search.

You get a list of drivers. Look for the following driver:

SunplusIT - Camera - 10/27/2017 12:00:00 AM - 3.6.8.7

Note that there will be 2 drivers with all the same details. Only the size of the download differs. If I'm not mistaken, one is probably the 32-bit version while the other is 64-bit. You want to download the one that has a size of 862KB.

Once downloaded, put the file in a folder and extract the contents of the CAB file that you just downloaded. Winzip is an example of a program that can do this. Just right-click on the file and pick "Unzip to here" if you have Winzip installed.

Next, open Device Manager (Windows Key + X, then select Device Manager), locate the camera in the list of devices and double-click on it, go to the driver tab, select Update Driver, Browse my computer for drivers, point it to the location where you extracted the downloaded CAB file and click on Next.

Windows Hello should now work!

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Hi The_Fossette,

apologies for not getting back to you earlier as I was away on a business trip, I tried this solution many times before but at that stage it always told me the error your latest driver is already installed.

my problem is now that I dont see the HP camera listed any more in the device manager. It used to be listed as I mentioned earlier in this thread as the HP 1MP High definiton camera. I removed that device as I thought this would allow me to add the driver after rebooting. however now after rebooting it is simply gone.

the only imaging device left is a device HP IR camera (this was also there when I removed the other one)

Please help me resolve this ...

thanks

I have done as you instructed but this did not resolve my issue and I feel it is only becoming worse and I will try to explain why.

First the result of the above instructions I did everything you said but it ended up with me not being able to reconfigure windows hello as the error message I get is: Couldn't turn on Camera. Make sure its working properly. When I go to device manager I now see that the latest device I removed before rebooting which was called HP IR camera is also gone and has not reappeared after rebooting.

When I started out following instructions on this forum to resolve this issue with windows hello. I had three devices listed in Device Manager under Imaging devices. These were:

1)  HP 1MP High definiton camera

2) HP IR camera

3) HP Officejet Pro 8600 (NET)

where the third one is my all in one printer

I have now removed both devices 1) and 2) as instructed in earlier threads on this one and they seem to have gone forever.... dont see them anywhere in device manager... not under imaging devices nor anywhere else as an orphan device that is not recognized or needs a driver.

Windows hello is still not functional

the camera hardware stillworks as I can start a Microsoft Application from my start menu called Camera and this does activate the camera and see live view on screen.

Please help as I am getting desperate here
