Hi there @bigdougie62,
May the Forums be with you! I understand that you are looking for PU upgrade options for an ENVY 23-010ea. I am happy to assist you with this.
I did not find a direct match to the model, the closet I found was the HP ENVY 23-d010ea TouchSmart All-in-One Desktop PC Product Specifications. Assuming that is the correct model, the following are supported processor family types for the board:
Intel Core i3-3xxxT (Ivy Bridge) Dual Core up to 35W
Intel Core i3-3xxx (Ivy Bridge) Dual Core up to 55W
Intel Core i5-3xxxT (Ivy Bridge) Dual Core up to 35W
Intel Core i5-3xxxT (Ivy Bridge) Quad Core up to 45W
Intel Core i5-3xxxS (Ivy Bridge) Quad Core up to 65W
Intel Core i3-2xxx (Sandy Bridge) Dual Core up to 65W
Intel Core i3-2xxxT (Sandy Bridge) Dual Core up to 35W
Intel Core i7-2xxxS (Sandy Bridge) Quad Core up to 95W
Intel Core i7-3xxxS (Ivy Bridge) Quad Core up to 65W
Intel Pentium G6xx (Sandy Bridge) Dual Core up to 65W
Intel Pentium G6xxT (Sandy Bridge) Dual Core up to 35W
Intel Pentium G8xx (Sandy Bridge) Dual Core up to 65W
Intel Pentium G20xx (Ivy Bridge) Dual Core up to 55W
Please let me know whether that works for you, and if it does resolve your issue, please mark this post as a solution. Kudos would also be appreciated.

Hi Malygris1, yes you got the make and model correct but what i really wanted to know is if i need to update the bios when i put a new cpu in where can i find the bios for my ENVY 23 as all i can find is the bios update for windows 8.1 and i am running windows 10 or can i use the bios update for windows 8.1 even though i am using windows 10. I don't want to get a new processor just to find out i cannot update the bios if i need to.
regards

You can use the existing BIOS. The only BIOS related requirement when you upgraded to Windows 10 was to update the BIOS to the most current available for the system, prior to the update, which from the sound of things you already did. The reason for this is that in many cases, after Windows 10 is installed you can no longer install a BIOS update that was designed for a previous operating system.
You can use the HP Support Assistant, to check for any compatible updates for your computer, that are not already being delivered through Windows updates.

A possible concern could be your Windows 10 license activation, after a hardware change. You should take a look at these: How to Use Your Free Windows 10 License After Changing Your PC’s Hardware - howtogeek.com
How to re-activate Windows 10 after a hardware change - windowscentral.com
I am not sure if changing the CPU would be enough to trigger a license issue or not, but it is something to be aware of. Certainly changing the motherboard would. You could always try contacting Microsoft Support - support.microsoft.com, prior to a CPU upgrade, just to be sure.
I hope this helps.
