Hi @gmtonyjoseph

Yes, there are problems with a faulty BIOS update from HP Support Assistant and Windows Update. Some PCs are paper weights (no video and no USB I/O) after the update. Some PCs are unstable and cannot complete a clean Windows installation. Your PC seems to fit in the latter group.

Have you recently installed a BIOS update from either source? If yes, you will need the prior BIOS version. F.33 Rev.A .

Check this Link for detailed instructions to reprogram the BIOS using F.33 Rev.A. You have a different MB and must use this BIOS version, however the procedure is the same. The system disk must also be formatted or wiped to remove the faulty BIOS' .sig files and .bin files located in the EFI System Partition.

Your PC has a release date of 6-7-2018 so you are probably out of warranty. You  can also have a local PC Tech do this if desired.

Your options are:

Contact HP

Reprogram the BIOS using the Aptio V AMI Firmware Update Utility

Use a local PC Tech

Hi @gmtonyjoseph

My pleasure.

Avoid HPSA BIOS updates. Don't install HP Firmware updates from Windows Update.

Enter Advanced System Settings in Search. Select the Hardware tab.

Select Device Installation Settings. Select No. Save changes.

Select Apply then OK.

Hi Joseph

Did you have BIOS version F.34 installed prior to installing version F.33?

This would be very good to know. HP usually prevents installing prior BIOS versions. This fact was making it very difficult for users to fix their PCs.
