re: dell, i did not realize you meant to get the whole power adapter (sorry).

re: the other parts, i have ordered both a jack (found one without wiring harness, has solder terminals), and a plug (again, solder terminals, no wire attached), will run 24-g 4-conductor phone wire through the safe wall, and solder the connectors onto that.

i have the multimiter to test it out.

i truly appreciate your help with this, sorry for some of the confusion i relayed, on the links, etc.  i just did not want to chop up a perfectly good power supply, and the ones i saw were more costly, i had not looked at the $10.00 ones (I did not look deeply enough).

Again, i thank you for your assistance, i'll post back when i complete this.

Just as a followup to this, for anyone interested, this connector is an exact fit to whta is on the motherboard of the HP elite 800 g9

the prior one mentioned by dGroves may have been exact, but i first wanted to try and find one that just had solder lugs on it, otherwise i was going to order that cabled one.  but i found this one from a french company, and just got it today, and plugged the power JACK into it, and it fits perfectly !

I sent that company a note to see if they have matching JACK  (dGroves, i do have the link to a matchable power supply, ebay, for $9.90, will order that if this company has no plain jacks)

again, thanks to dGroves, and others in this community, for answers to this and to other questions.!

if anyone is interested, here are the two matching connectors, after extensive internet search, and help of membrs on this forum.

this makes it very clean to create the patch cord through the enclosed wall.

to all - thanks for all feedback.  see attached, shows the final product, the two connector ends i found (jack and plug) are fully compatible.

soldered the three wires to each connector, have WAGO connectors in the middle (can unhook, then thread through the safe wall, and reconnect), checked all polarities, and turned it on.

the computer worked !  

fine tuning all settings, and when it is enclosed, it will have bios changed to POWER ON after power fail or power shutdown (turns back on automatically on restart of power).  i have TightVNC as a VNP for home use, and when it gets turned back on, TightVNC is active, and i can just set up a connection from outside the enclosre, one of my other computers.

the power to the computer power supply is turned on and off by Zwave switch, remotely, so i don't have to go to the enclosure to turn on the external power supply.
