@alanbane , welcome to the Community.
There is no M.2, SSD, socket on your motherboard. Therefore, it would require an adapter or you would have to use a standard SSD and replace the HDD. Frankly, because of the age of your computer (2011), I am not certain that a PCIe x1 adapter would be compatible. I suggest that you contact the manufacturer's Tech Support to see what they have to say about the compatibility with your motherboard.
