My HP keyboard has a button in the top right corner that has a padlock on it. I keep bumping that key and it will lock the computer and I have to enter my microsoft password to unlock. Is there a way to disable that key or make it do something else? It is very frustrating. Thanks.

Welcome to our HP Community forum!
What you're seeing is normal behavior for many HP keyboards -especially wireless or business-class models like the HP Premium or HP 320/325 series keyboards.
What That Key Does:
That padlock key is a Windows "Lock Screen" shortcut. Pressing it instantly locks your PC, just like pressing Windows + L.
This is a hardware-defined shortcut key, and unfortunately, HP does not provide official software to reassign or disable it.
Here is a response by @Echo_Lake regarding this issue: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/How-to-disable-lock-screen-key-on-my-k....
Possible Workarounds:
1. Remap the Key Using Free Software:
You can use a key-remapping tool like:
Microsoft PowerToys (Keyboard Manager)
→ Free from Microsoft
→ Lets you disable or remap the key to "do nothing" or perform another action.
Steps:
Download and install PowerToys.
Launch PowerToys > Go to Keyboard Manager.
Select Remap a key → Press the padlock key → Choose "Undefined" or another function.
Apply changes.
2. Use SharpKeys (Possible Alternative Option):
SharpKeys writes directly to the Windows registry to remap keys.
Lightweight, simple interface.
Great for one-time remaps like disabling lock keys.
What You Can’t Do:
You cannot disable that key through BIOS.
HP’s standard keyboard driver doesn’t offer customization options.
