HP Pro Tower 290 G9 Desktop PC (7A486AV)

On the HP 8B3C (U3E1) motherboard page the maximum supported temperature is NOT specified! Does anyone know what the maximum temperature of this motherboard is?

@Mimosyn,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

My friend, it looks like there may be a mix-up with the motherboard reference. The HP Pro Tower 290 G9 is typically equipped with the HP 89B4 (SSID: 89B4) motherboard, whilst the HP Slim Desktop S01-pF3000i uses the HP AlkaliR (SSID: 8B3C) motherboard.

Please confirm your PC model and motherboard SSID (found in BIOS or HP Support Assistant).

1. General Operating Temperature Range (for HP Desktops):

  • Ambient Operating Temperature: 5°C to 35°C (41°F to 95°F)
  • Storage Temperature: -40°C to 60°C (-40°F to 140°F)

2. Motherboard & Component Temperature Limits:

  • Chipset & VRM: Typically operates under 80-90°C.
  • CPU: Maximum temperature depends on the installed processor (check Intel’s official specs).
  • Memory & Storage: Usually rated for operation below 85°C.

3. Monitoring & Managing System Temperatures:

  • Use HWMonitor, HWInfo, or Open Hardware Monitor to check temperatures.
  • Ensure proper cooling with clean vents, internal dust removal, and sufficient airflow.

If you can confirm your PC model and motherboard ID, I may be able to find more specific details. Let me know what you find!

Kind Regards,

HP PC Hardware Diagnostic Tools  is it still an HP product?  That's what it says in HP software:

"Manufacturer
HP
Model
HP Pro Tower 290 G9 Desktop PC
System ID
8B3C"

Most likely my PC was WRONGLY detected by the HP platform (online site) and I wrote it like this 7A486AV .  Maybe the number is wrong but the HP Pro Tower 290 G9 Desktop PC is.   I wrote some data on another topic. See this: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Desktop-PC-HP-290-G9-motherboar...

On this topic, I asked only one question, to which you answered something else!

@Mimosyn,

The question you asked, and I quote: "Does anyone know what the maximum temperature of this motherboard is?" cannot be answered with a simple one-dimensional number, because your motherboard contains a number of components each generating different temperatures, which I did list.

Combine this with conflicting information you provided about your PC, which makes it even more challenging.

Kind Regards,
