Ive never really been into gaming on pc but I want to build a GSPRO capable machine and I have a TP01-3016 laying around. requirements for gspro are at minimum rtx306ti and 12 gb ram. I've already upgraded to 32gb ram. I've got 1tb ssd. I'd like to go slightly more capable than the 3060ti for future upgrades of different games. I've run into some psu issues however as I can only get a 500w psu from hp for this machine. Can I replace the motherboard with one comparable with the i5-12400 but without the annoyance of HPs proprietary connections? at that point would I also need a new chassis?

@noobintraining,

Welcome to our HP Community forum!

It so happens that I recently upgraded an almost identical desktop PC, an HP Pavilion TP01-3003W (318K3AA): https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrading-an-HP-Pavilion-TP01-3.... I think you may find this upgrade project interesting.

Anyway, in addition to the proprietary 500-watt power supply, which, incidentally, can power a smaller-sized (dual fan) RTX 4060 Ti, there happens to be a compatible 650-watt power supply with HP part number: L57253-003 / L36049-003.

This power supply could power even more powerful graphics cards, as long as you select smaller-sized GPU's to fit inside your case.

Kind Regards,

thank you so much for the quick response. your build is pretty mucvh exactly what I am looking to do. If you dont mind one more question... Do I need an HP specific rtx 4060ti or will an EVGA work?

@noobintraining,

You are most welcome!

No, any brand graphics card will work, there is exactly zero difference between an HP-branded card and brand cards such as EVGA.  You must carefully measure the length of any card though, to make sure it fits dimensionally, especially lengthwise.
