@guillermo2022,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion p6370t CTO Desktop PC is fitted with HP motherboard HP 575765-001 (IONA-GL8E MS-7613 H57), which has the CPU socket LGA 1156 and chipset H57.

Compatible processors: https://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/H57_Express.html

I assume that your current processor is either the Intel Core i3-530 or i3-540.

Your desktop is compatible with these i7 processors:

The fastest CPU for your desktop would be the Intel Core i7-880, which has a TDP of 95 watt.  I know this processor would work on your desktop, because I found an HP Pavilion p6370t - AZ210AV User who has the i7-860 installed: Hp-pavilion AZ210AV-ABA p6370t Performance Results - UserBenchmark.

An Intel Core i7-880 can be purchased online via eBay starting at about $85: i7-880: Search Result | eBay.

Please note that these i7 processors because of their higher TDP (95 watt vs. 73 watt for the Intel Core i3 processors) generate more heat. The i7-860S and the i7-870S have TDPs of 82 watt, btw.

Hope this was helpful.

Kind Regards,

@Prométhée,

Yes indeed, so would I.

@guillermo2022, whatever Intel Core i7 processor you choose (as mentioned, the "S" versions have lower TDPs), see if your current BIOS will start up with an i7 CPU.  If not, and if you have a BIOS version lower than the 5.15 version (Aug 6th, 2010), you can download v. 5.15 from here: https://support.hp.com/au-en/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-p6000-desktop-pc-series/4079858/model/4....

Kind Regards,
