Microsoft Windows 11

when i hook up a vermont usb 3.0 my computer will not recognize my external hard drives if i plug in more than one drive. the hub has 7 usb ports on it that have switches to turn them on and off.  I am on the usb port that turns off with the computer. When I have the 3 external drive plugged into the other port with another type of hub it works fine.

I have a similar problem with 3-pack of DVD readers on a hub.  I had to turn them on one at a time and wait for the win 10 to recognize before turning the next one on.  I am a big fan of StarGate and StarTrek and got these cheap used dvd players  to make mp4 backups as I don't want my "collectors" DVDs handled more than once.
