Microsoft Windows 11

I have an old xw6400 Workstation that is my go-to desktop.  I have upgraded the processor to two quad-core Zeon processors and am running Windows 11.  Five years or so ago I replaced the hard dribve with a 256MB SSD and that has worked well, but I'd like to upgrade it.  I got a 1TB SSD and cloned the old boot drive as a bootable disk, but the computer will not boot.  It boots through the BIOS start-up but will not start Windows and then goes back into the BIOS.  I then put the old 256MB SSD in and all is OK.

Is there a size limit on the boot drive?  I am running the v2.26 BIOS.

Hi, Paul:

That model PC should be able to support a boot drive up to 2 TB.

The only suggestion I can offer would be to try clean installing W11 on the 1 TB SSD and see if that works.

Make a bootable W11 USB installation flash drive using the Rufus version 3.18 that I zipped up and attached below.

Set up Rufus as shown in my screenshot in the discussion below except you need to change the partition scheme from GPT to MBR since your PC does not have a UEFI BIOS.
