I just dont understand why it keeps saying im missing a boot device and then wont allow me back in unless i do an earlier install. im lost as to what i havent done. but i will try what you have said if the problem persist. thank you again for your time. my desktop is only at 9% so i will see tomorrow if these answers helped. thank you

Your AMD Away Driver cleaned up Device Manager in my friend's Compaq Presario SR2030NX that I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7 64-bit - details here. https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/Windows-7-Drivers-For-Compaq-Pr... During my search I also found this EXCELLENT website which appears to have complete legacy driver sets for old PCs.
