I am trying to do a fresh install of Windows 7 (64) on a dv6-6135dx. It cannot find the hdd and says I need a driver to detect the sata drive. It has the AMD A8 Vision chip.

You should only need a SATA driver when installing XP.
W7 and up do not need the storage controller drivers.
FWIW, I have zipped up and attached the W7 x64 AMD SATA drivers for your notebook:

Even with the AMD SATA driver, its still not seeing the drive. Im using a known good cord and hdd. Ive tried both the dedicated hdd port on the mother board and the dvd drive port, and it cant read the drive from either. Is there a generic sata driver, or maybe something else i could try?
