Hi, I've been getting HP Solution Center popups over the past week that say ~

Solution Center has detected that you do not have the correct version of Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer installed.  You can easily download and install this application for Internet Explorer at ~ And then there's a link for this.  The popup goes on to say ~ Solution Center will not be able to work until you have installed Adobe Flash Player for Internet Explorer.

I presently have Adobe Acrobat Reader DC installed and everything is working great.  I was even able to access/login to this HP Support Forum by merely googling HP Support Community.

I'm hesitant to do any installations that I don't feel safe about so could someone please give me some feedback about this.  Thank-you.

Adobe Flash Player was an add-on to web-browsers, to provide "animation" on web-pages.

Now, web-browsers have been enhanced to what Flash Player did, but both "better" and more securely.

So, "HTML5" is the new standard across web-browsers (Safari, Edge, Chrom, firefox ...) that defines what commands that the web-browsers must accept.

Yes, with one exception. Many HP users have reported problems with the "BIOS update" that might be offered.

I recommend that you decline to allow this update to be applied.

Thanks for your reply, Banhien.  I checked your provided links but alas it's all way over my head.  I'm going to have to leave things as they are at present but I do appreciate you getting back to me.

Hi, I got in touch with Microsoft and the technician said that two years ago, Adobe announced the end of Flash to give developers time to switch to other technologies like HTML5.  He also said the Flash player had now been removed from all Windows, Apple Mac, iOS, and Android devices and cannot be installed again.  He said that if HP relied on the Flash Player, then it will no long work and that I should contact HP and ask them if they have produced a new version of their software that is compatible with Windows.

What is HTML5?  And has HP produced a new version of their software that is compatible with Windows?

Should I merely click the link on the HP popup I've been receiving the past week or so and follow the link's directions?

Thanks so much again.

Thanks very much for your reply Itsmyname.  Alas I'm having trouble following the HP popup instructions but I'll keep trying.

I don't know if this matters but ~ I checked EVERY setting on my computer and there isn't any setting called Adobe Flash Player, even my app is titled Adobe Acrobat Reader DC that was just installed July 14, 2021.  So I'm wondering how the heck I can uninstall Adobe Flash Player when it's not even listed anywhere on my computer?

I'd sure be grateful for any feedback about this and thanks a lot.

Hi, a few days ago I downloaded the UNINSTALL Adobe Flash Player program, then I ran the program & after it finished running it said it was DONE.  Next I did a restart on my computer as was advised and my computer booted back up perfectly.  Then I checked every one of my Settings on my computer and Adobe Flash Player wasn't showing anywhere.

For two days I stopped receiving the HP popup about this matter but then half--an-hour the HP popup reappeared.

I just finished running a FULL HP Operation System Diagnostics Scan ~ the BITS Diagnostic results, the Device Diagnostic results, the Maintenance Diagnostic results, and the Device Center Diagnostics results showed NO ISSUES after the Scan having been completed.

So what I can do now to stop the HP popup to stop reappearing?  I'd appreciate any help and thanks.

I may have found out what's going on.  When I log into HP Support there's an INFORMATION notice at the top right.  It says, Fix and resolve Windows 10 update issues on HP computer or printer and there's a link to click.

And oh, I also saw a notice that said ~ HP Solution Center stopped working for printers manufactured before 2010.  I can't find the receipt for my HP Printer but I know I did buy it before 2010.

I installed the HP Print and Scan Doctor and did the scan.  It showed my printer was INSTALLED and my printer has been working perfectly ever since I bought it.

I also saw a notice that says ~ You can continue to use your printer to print and scan by installing the Windows built-in print driver and there's a link for doing this.

I just got the HP Support popup again so could someone please help me.  I'm afraid I may lose access to HP Solution Center.

@Willow1949

As mentioned before, Adobe Flash Player is no longer available. HP Solution center won't work. For Windows machines, please use HP Scan Extended:

         ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi

Once it's downloaded and installed, for Windows 10:

  (a) Hit Win key,
  (b) Scroll down to HP group/folder,
  (c) Double click "HP Scan Extended"

You can put a shortcut on Taskbar or Desktop

Regards.

Thanks Banhien but when I click the link you provided I get a BLANK page on Google meaning the HP Scan Extended won't download.  What do you suggest I do?
