Hi

I am using HP support assistant. 2 days ago it signalled that a new BIOS was avaiable. I have Insys F20 currently installed and what was avaiable was the F 22.

What happened is in the logs is that the HP support assistant just jumped over the BIOS update and ignored it.

I still see in my systems information that I have the F20 BIOS, so it is not an issue that the computer ignored the update because there was a new version, its still the old version.

When I visit product information, there is a posibility that I can update the BIOS by hand. But if I have or should update the BIOS by hand, why on earth name did not the HP assistant do the automatic update?

I have windows home edition so I don´t have any Bit locker that needs  a temporary shutdown.

The only question is if I can restart the HP assistant to do an automatic update and or if not, If I have to do the BIO update by hand and shut of the virus programs while doing it?

Thanks for your help

Hi

HOW TO USE:
1. Download the file by clicking the Download or Obtain Software button and saving the file to a folder on your hard drive (make a note of the folder where the downloaded file is saved).

2. Double-click the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

Once upon a time there was a BIOS update to counter-act the spectre of CPU insecurity, and it was such a bad bad BIOS it was pulled within a few days.

So the Automatic application of a BIOS update is frowned upon by many, and perhaps that is why you should make the decision yourself as to if / when it's applied.

If in doubt please ask.
