Greetings @CameronMuirhead

One last thing you could also try is to create a HP USB BIOS Recovery drive to see if you flash the BIOS outside of the operating system.

The thing is GT13-1000i is a a generic product number which applies to a group of PCs within that product number.

I checked the driver download site for a Gt13-1000i. Yes, I see eight BIOS downloads having four different MB options available.

You should use the specific product number for your PC when doing a BIOS update. Your PC's product number should be something like GT13-1250na or similar.

You would have to open Msinfo using Windows Search to get the correct MB baseboard product number.

Then download the latest BIOS having the MB SSID which matches the MB baseboard product number.

Now scroll down to "Recover the BIOS using a USB recovery drive at this HP Site.

Then follow the steps at the above HP site to see if you can flash the BIOS outside of the operating system.

You might have to create the HP USB BIOS Recovery drive using a different PC if you can't do this on the GT13-1000i PC.

Hi Bill,

So the BIOS method is what I've been trying previously. And as you say there are 8 different ones to choose from.
The only issue with the BIOS product number is that I can't boot into windows anymore as the first thing that loads when turning the PC on is now the BIOS. (Which is blank and white)

So now windows is no longer an option on that machine to get any part numbers from. I do have another I can use to create the USB etc. But I have tried this with one of the BIOS files and it doesn't recognize it.

I guess I can try going through all 8 of them and see if there's any luck...

Cheers,
Cameron

Also, I do have another GPU I can connect that I know is working (although the current GPU installed does work as it booted to windows previously). But as a precaution I can swap it out to prove the point.

You cannot sign in to Windows now. That's too bad.

The specific PC product number should be affixed to the chassis somewhere. This might help to narrow down the correct BIOS update.

You could also check the MB. The MB SSID might be silk screened on the MB. Or you might find the MB name somewhere on the MB. Either one of these findings would help to ID the MB.

Try other graphics card options to see if you have any luck.

I don't know. It looks like the MB may be toast if you can't update the BIOS and you can get video when trying on board graphics or when trying a different graphics card.

You could also try reducing the PC to a minimum configuration. This would be only the following components connected to the MB:

1. Power supply

2. CPU

3. Try each stick of HP factory RAM, one at a time, in each memory slot

4. Various graphics options as previously discussed

Just connect a monitor. All other components/peripherals would be removed to check core components required to get video and a good POST.

One of the above components, including the MB, would be at fault if the PC will not POST using a minimum configuration.

Hi Bill,

On the bottom of the case there is this:

Product name: OMEN 30L Desktop
Model# GT13-1049na
Product# 4U6S6EA#ABU

So I am able to get the exact BIOS firmware onto the USB but when I try to do the BIOS recovery with WIN + B nothing seems to happen and I get the same error screen.

I'll try strip it down tonight to the basics and see if that helps diagnose further.

Thanks,
Cam

Hello,

Thought it would be worth sharing in case anyone else gets this issue in the future.
I've managed to get around the issue with what I thought was originally the BIOS.

Swapped out the ram to lower speed 2100Mhz RAM, single slot.
Swapped out the GPU with an old RX 570.

Once I did this, the BIOS menus started working again...
Not sure if this is multiple issues in one (definately feels like it).

Have firmwared the BIOS now as well after booting into windows. Can confirm that I'm able to get to every area.

Hopefully helps someone else in the future.

Cheers.
