@blacPi, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Thanks for reaching out about the screen flickering issue after the BIOS update on your HP Spectre x360 15-ch008ca. This kind of issue can sometimes occur if the new BIOS version introduces compatibility problems with display drivers or firmware. Here's how you can address it:
Confirm BIOS Version
Make sure your current BIOS version is indeed F.38:
- Press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and press Enter.
- Look for BIOS Version/Date.
Attempt BIOS Rollback to F.36
Yes, you can reinstall the previous BIOS version F.36, but it must be done carefully.
Go to the official HP driver page for your model: HP Spectre x360 - 15-ch008ca Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support
- Select your operating system
- Under BIOS, look for version F.36, click Previous Versions or Older Versions.
Install BIOS F.36
- Download the BIOS file and run the installer.
- Follow on-screen instructions. Your system will reboot and flash the BIOS.
If the installer prevents downgrading, you may need to use the BIOS Recovery Tool.
Optional: Use BIOS Recovery Tool (if downgrade is blocked)
- Create a BIOS recovery USB:
- Use another PC to download the BIOS F.36 file.
- Run the installer and choose Create Recovery USB.
- Insert USB into your Spectre.
- Enter BIOS Recovery Mode:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Hold Windows + B, then press and hold the Power button for 2-3 seconds.
- Release all keys. The system should enter recovery mode and flash the BIOS.
After Downgrade
- Check if the flickering stops.
- Update your graphics drivers from the same HP support page or via Device Manager.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
