Pavilion 580-023w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Iwant to update the BIOS on my Pavilion 580-023w, the current version is F.11 REV.A . The latest is F.25 Rev.A .

I have installed an HP 120GB SSD drive already. Will I have to change anything in the BIOS after the update? I can't remember whether I did any changes in the BIOS when I installed the SSD.

@bandeng71,

Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post that you need assistance in updating the Bios on your HP Desktop. Don't I'll be glad to assist you with this.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Why do you want to update the Bios on your PC? Do you have any issues with the computer?

Do you get any error message while updating the Bios?

Updating the BIOS, also known as "flashing the BIOS," replaces the BIOS firmware. When completed successfully, a BIOS update can fix or enhance aspects of a computer's performance, or provide support for newly installed hardware. However, if an incorrect update is installed or if the update process is interrupted, the motherboard can be permanently damaged, leaving the computer unable to boot. It is recommended to update your BIOS only if one or more of the following conditions apply:

  • The update fixes a problem with your computer.

  • The update enhances your computer's performance in the desired way.

  • You are planning to change the operating system, processor, or other feature(s), and the current BIOS version will not support the new configuration.

  • An HP Support Agent, or an HP support document, recommends that you download and install a specific updated BIOS.

If you are having issues updating the Bios, then I would suggest here is to attempt a Bios recovery - HP Desktop PCs - Recovering the BIOS

If you are able to boot the computer to the desktop then follow this link to update the Bios - Click here

Could you please respond to this post with the details and with the results of the troubleshooting as this will help me in further assisting you.

Eagerly waiting for your response!

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.
