HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-4000i RCTO Base Model
Microsoft Windows 11

Support Assistant prompted me to update BIOS using this file:

HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS Update (ROM Family SSID 8B3B)

This package provides an update to the HP Consumer Desktop PC BIOS (ROM Family SSID 8B3B) for supported models running a supported operating system

SoftPaq number: sp154657
Version: F.32
Size: 14.1 MB

I receive an error message that there isn't enough room on the disk to expand the file, but that's clearly not the case.  Would appreciate advice.

If this is the error you are getting: "There is not enough free disk space to complete the System BIOS and Device Firmware update operation. Delete some files to free disk space and try again."

Maybe this discussion will help:

"I've created a portable USB-flash drive and simply left it in the USB port while doing the BIOS update and it worked for some reason."

Hi Paul.  Thanks for posting your suggestion.  That's a crazy fix, especially that it worked for several people.  Unfortunately didn't work for me.  The FAT32 formatted USB drive went in to no avail.  I even tried making the boot drive as the OP did, but that didn't help.  It did fry the flash drive, unfortunately. First time I'm ever seen that.

You're very welcome.

Sorry, that didn't work for you.

It was a long shot.

The BIOS update must unpack to a section of a drive partition that is not large enough.

That seems to be an important BIOS update, but it doesn't seem to jibe with your PC's specs.

I couldn't find it on any of the TE01-1xxx support pages though.

Is it possible that the HPSA sent you some bad info?

It seems like this update is for much newer platforms than yours.

What's the product number of your PC?

Run the Windows system information app and the product number can be found on the System SKU line.

Paul:  The product number is 6V9T7AV

OK, so it is the right BIOS update, but according to the product number you posted, your PC is a HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-4000i RCTO Base Model PC, not a TE01-1150xt CTO PC.

So now that we know that info, have you tried to download and run the BIOS update from the link I posted?

Or see this discussion for what this one other forum member did when the support assistant presented a BIOS update:

All a person can ask is for something to try that hasn't yet been shown to fail.  😇

Paul:  Just tried the file avalable at HP ENVY Desktop PC TE01-4000i Software and Driver Details.  Unfortunately, same error- not enough disk space.  I think I'll let someone else solve this problem and I'll benefit from their work.  Thank you.

You're very welcome.

Good luck.

Hopefully you or someone else will be able to figure it out.

GRC's program InitDrive resurrected my flash drive from the dead.  Someone may benefit from this info.
