Why is the bios in Software & Drivers search different & more recent than the bios installed with HP automatic updates turned on?

@Jo_Kim -- I hold the opinion that one should try to update the BIOS only when there is some problem that accompanies the BIOS update that states that the update fixes an issue that I am experiencing.

 

So, as they say "let sleeping dogs lie" -- if your computer is working, a failed attempt at updating the BIOS can make your computer STOP working.
