Hi @Majorjer,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If you're seeing a BIOS password prompt after a reset and your correct password is being denied, here's what you need to know:
HP cannot reset a lost or forgotten BIOS password.
To resolve this issue, the system board must be replaced, which may involve additional costs even if the device is in or out of warranty.
What You Can Try Before Service:
1. Double-Check the Password
- Ensure Caps Lock and Num Lock are off.
- Try any previous passwords or default BIOS passwords you may have set.
- If you used HP Sure Admin, you may need the BIOS Configuration Utility (BCU) and the associated certificate.
2. Perform a CMOS Reset (if supported)
Some HP models allow a manual reset of BIOS settings:
- Turn off the PC and unplug it.
- Open the case (if it's a desktop) and remove the CMOS battery for 5–10 minutes.
- Reinsert the battery and power on.
⚠️ This method does not work on newer HP models with enhanced BIOS security or HP Sure Start.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
