LED blinks quickly 5 times and then pauses all the time, whether unit is on, off, charging, not charging. When computer is off, powered down, and not charging, the battery discharges 10% in the first 24 hours. It appears the unit does not power down but goes into sleep mode. Even when turning off by holding down the power button. Initially is 13 months old.

Have you reset the computer to release excessive static? If not, use the below steps:
- Ensure your device is OFF.
- Unplug all the external devices (If any).
- Disconnect the power cord from the PSU,
- Press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds.
- Connect the power supply (power cord).
- Press the power button to turn on your desktop.

I have discovered the solution. The problem is really that the normal shutdown function does not work properly.
The problem: Start Menu, Power icon, click "shut down" - The computer appears to sut down, but the LED on the side next to the power port blinks white 5 times and pause (not the LED embedded in the physical power button), and continues to do so, whether the A/C adapter is attached or not. When this happens, the battery is depleted by 10% in the first 12 hours. Further the power port LED does not indicate battery conditions correctly.
The Solution: Boot up computer, Start Menu, Power icon, click "sleep" and then press and hold down the physical power button at least 10 seconds until the computer shuts down.
The Power LED will not function correctly, showing orange solid when charging, blink 5 times white while sleeping, etc... AND the battery will not discharge when A/C adapter is not plugged in.
