In this most recent eposode, I was using Firefox because  IE11 had become so corrupted that it opened to a crash.  I un-updated IE11 but Firefox also was crashing so frequently that it had become a problem.  I am now using Chrome.  BTW, I have McAfee and Malwarebytes premium on my computer.  They are run automatically.

Have a good day and thanks again.

Yes, "unsigned" ActiveX programs have complete access to your computer.

So, it is a matter of "trust" -- if you trust the organization that "signed" the ActiveX control, then you can assume that it will not be harmful.

Compare it to a lumberjack's ax -- used in the correct hands, it is a useful tool.

When it is the hands of a murderer, as shown in many "horror-movies", it definitely will be a problem.

Also, compare it to a fingernail file -- useful in its normal context, but "banned" from being taken onto an airplane.
