i just purchased an adapter for this hp notebook and when pressing and holding the power button...It will light up and then turn off. But sometimes the power led stays on but the computer screen remains blank then a message appears that says the following:

THE CMOS CHECKSUM IS INVALID. THE CMOS WILL BE RESET TO THE DEFAULT CONFIGURATION AND WILL BE REBOOTED. PLEASE CHECK SETUP OPTIONS TO SEE IF THEY CHANGE.

CMOS RESET (502)

enter-reboot the system

and then the message disappears and back to a black screen. I do not hear anything when the power led turns on.

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Try restoring the BIOS back to default and check if that helps

  1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.

  2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.

  3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.

  4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.

  5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?

  6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

Keep me posted

Thank you
