HP Desktop Pro A G2

current processor is AMD Ryzen 3 PRO 2200G APU which is not compatible with windows 11. I am wondering if current chipset  (AMD B300 FCH) is compatible with any AMD processor that can run windows 11

Hi:

I was looking at the specs and the service manual and none of the processors offered in the model series meet the Microsoft's minimum W11 AMD processor requirements.

Unfortunately, I don't know of the B300 chipset will support a better processor.

If you want to experiment, you can try this processor:

AMD Ryzen7 PRO 2700 Processor Eight Core 3.2GHz LGA 65W.

The reason I suggest that processor is it is supported for W11 and if you look at the specs for this model series, it offered the same processors as your model series plus the Pro 2700.

The only difference is it has the B350 chipset.

HP 285 G3 Microtower PC

Does your PC come with a TPM 2.0 security device listed under the security devices category in the device manager?

If not, your PC would not meet the W11 hardware requirements even with a supported processor.

If you are interested in installing W11 on your PC as is, you can read this discussion for how I upgraded several HP and Dell notebook and desktop PC's that did not meet the W11 hardware requirements to W11 22H2.

If the in-place upgrade fails, you should be able to clean install W11 using the bootable W11 installation flash drive you made with Rufus.

Thanks very much for your quick response. It seems chipset B300 is also outdated and it’s better to forget upgrades on HP Desktop A G2.

You're very welcome.

You may want to try my W11 upgrade process on your PC.

The HP business desktop PC's I've upgraded to W11 are considerably older than yours, and W11 works great on all of them.
